Interested means”wanting to learn more about something.” Interested is used to describe a person who wants to learn more about something or to become involved in something. While being interesting means “attracting your attention.” Interesting is used to describe something or someone that attracts your attention.

There is a lot of difference between these two terms. You have to be interested in someone in order to gain their attention instead of being interested which shows you that you only care about you and see yourself in the top priority.

I was reading the book “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie published in 1936. This book is a piece of art and was one of the bestselling books in 2011. This book really is a masterpiece telling you and guiding you how to influence people around you and get interested in them. In this book some examples were given the one I like is:

Alfred Adler, the famous Viennese psychologist, wrote a book entitled What Life Should Mean to You. In that book he says: “It is the individual who is not interested in his fellow men who has the greatest difficulties in life and provides the greatest injury to others. It is from among such individuals that all human failures spring.”

Some tips that I extracted to make friends are:

· Be genuinely interested in people

· Be a good listener

· Make the other person feel important

· Try to greet them with enthusiasm

· Talk about their interests

I took the influence challenge and tried to talk to my friends, teachers and some strangers by applying the above mentioned tips. I met 15 people. Not only I felt confident while talking to them but also found a lot about them and they look more leaned toward answering my questions when they see me interested towards me.

This book has explained everything so well with real life examples and so clearly that everything is crystal clear.
